Day and night at the same time - rare pic
The photograph attached was taken by the crew on board the Columbia
during its last mission, on a cloudless day.
The picture is of Europe and Africa when the sun is setting.
Half of the picture is in night. The bright dots you see are the cities’ lights.Truly fascinating

probably because that’s what the earth looks like.
the comments on this one are what make it reblog-worthy, but I’m going to agree with the person who thinks it looks like google earth, because a) is any day really THAT cloudless? and b) I don’t think you can take a picture of the ocean from space that is quite so… bathymetric. (I see the mid-atlantic ridge!)
